Plan B is a recognised hip hop artist from London, UK, and is known for his talent of being able to switch between rap and soul. Here he drops a new hip hop track lashing out at the British Government in a very emotionally charged way.
The beat is a mix between good ol’ grime and bassy dance music which creates the effect of highlighting and even increasing his passion and anger regarding the very controversial topics he speaks about.
This tracks starts of with a small intro then heads directly into the chorus for this song. The chorus highlights how serious Plan B is about the subjects mentioned in this track and that no matter how controversial the topics get or what consequences lie ahead, he does not plan on backing down and will stand strong in a very British manner.
The first verse to this song Plan B goes in hard, targeting what he believes is the source of Britain’s issues, and that is those in power. Anyone who tries to fight us will be fought back “Drop ’em on their head from the height of Mount Everest”. He speaks about how we as a nation do not accept bowing down to terrorism therefore we should not kneel to those in power. He believes them to be snakes and liars. This verse also ends with a funny quip about the recent brexit ordeal.
His second verse directly speaks to those in power saying that the violence they threaten the population with will be challenged. He mentions racial tension between the police forces and those who are victimised. “Boys in blue see black and white, don’t see no other colour. But they only shoot at one more than they do the other.” This is a serious issue worldwide and is no different in the UK. Plan B uses the phrase ‘lash out’ here which I think is exactly what he is trying to do.
Overall I think this is a great track that hits British people right in the feels, it speaks about very controversial topics that need to be spoken about and highlighted more often. This in my opinion is not only good music but important words from somebody who is on the average person’s side of the fence.
