Known for his ever succeeding hits such as ‘Where are U Now’ with Justin Bieber; Diplo has released another amazing collaboration with upcoming hip hop rapper, Lil Xan. Released one month before his own debut album California, “Colorblind” talks about his one-sided past relationship and how he was too blind to see its flaws.
This production uses Xan’s hip hop flow with Diplo’s world-famous electronic beats. Seeing as how some rappers now just fall into the ‘mumble’ category, color blind let me give Xan another shot. Although the song is very basic, the tone of voice and how Xan sung most of the lyrics just fits so well with the amazing production quality all of Diplo’s songs have.
The lyrics as a whole are super fun to rap / sing along to but sometimes you do stop and think about how a few lines are a bit basic and there just to fill a gap. Here’s one of my favorite examples of just that:
“Text that I sent that you never ever read
Got me feelin’ like you never ever ever really cared, yeah
But that’s okay though
I hope you feel okay though
They used to call me Diego
My favorite drink is Faygo”
It starts off solid and fitting that of the point, then falls into his favorite drink and his own name? All this being said, I actually really like the song, the production quality as I said is great and its just fun to listen to.
